With American Defenders coming up on the 8th of December, a list of common gear with brand names, website links, and prices paid would be great. Since we try to standardize equipment placement, why not standardize equipment as well?
What have you found that works well? Where have you bought it, and for how much? |

Hey KuhnDog,
American Defenders Gear Level One begins with SpecRail Gear system topped off with the Cold Steel Recon Tanto outfitted with Tek-lok on the scabbard and latched on to the number two rail position on the Spec-Rail Holster Platform. This puts the Tanto blade just behind the pistol on the strong side, awesome. By the way, I just got the shipment of blades...one for you, one for your lovely warrior bride? |

Dog,
Good point...for American Defenders training I use a SpecRail with four (4) AR-15 mags and a G22 Quad Pouch on my utility belt to the rear of the SpecRail. I've seen Quad Pouches mounted directly on SpecRails and that is worth evaluating.
A Strike Holster is on my strong side with a G22, fixed blade Cold Steel and a Surefire G2 flashlight.
Cecil crafted the SpecRail and Strike Holster and they are both stout and ergonomically very efficient. After two days of recent drills, both have 'natural fit' characteristics.
The next step is to rig a 5 round 12 gauge speed clip to a SpecRail AR mag holder. Rudy has this set up and it seems stout.
Also, a single point NorthEast Tactical sling combined with a 3" Blackhawk velcro retainer has proven to be efficient and field tough. |

Three (3) AR mags, Glock 22 with three (3) mags, utility tool, 4" fixed blade and 12 gauge loops.
I've been traveling when Hoff's vest has been demo'd and I intend to standardize to the American Defenders vest if we now have a standardized rig.
Hoff - please advise regarding standardized vest status. |

Until we find somthing better we will need radios (motorola type) for the next seesion as we will be working on caravan tactics, lane changes, setting pics, etc and we will need to communicate with each other.
