How many of you have dumped the front sight in favor of a sightless style gas block?

Advantages? Disadvantages?

Am trying to decide if I might go with a flip up front sight.

Whatcha all think?

Funny you should ask, In two weeks I will have the first Hoffners Tactical Rifle. It will be a 16" carbine gas block so we can have the extra long for-end with rails to allow attaching the equipment that you want, where you want, like reflex sight AND magnifier. It will come with adjustable front and rear flip-ups, Single point sling mount, closed rubber grip handle, and oversized charging handle. All at a competitive price, about 1,299. JP Adjustable trigger will be an option. All mil/spec. How will you know if its Hoffners Tactical? It will have the Hoffners Tactical Logo...SWEET!

Do you know which block will be used, as well as the front sight?

I just picked up a Colt 6920, and have added a LaRue 7" handguard, Tangodown vert grip, GG&G BUIS Mad rear sight, and an Aimpoint CompM3.

Still deciding on the lighting system, and whether to keep the stock front sight, or go with a gas block and flip up front sight.

I have several AR's.They are all set up mission specific. The one I use most is a Bushmaster Disipator. It has the longer for-end which also places my front sight foward for better accuracy. It has a factory front sight post with a Trijicon froht sight. An A.R.M.s Rail system,Weapon Solutions fixed rear sight,Trijicon Tri power optics.I changed the folding stock back to an original full stock it just works better for me.I use a Surefire light with pressure pad mounted on an A.R.M.S quick release,A Northeast Tactical sling mounted to a GG&G single point sling mount I add a piece of para cord between the two to prevent binding.A Ready Mag just to have an extra magazine. I chose the fixed sights simply because I prefer to be on my iron sights each time I look down the barrel. My optics are co witnessed with the iron sights and have no magnification so it does not create a problem. It works for me. The Bushmaster Dissipator Rico designed for me has a 16" barrel and a 20" sight radius that is excellent for CQB drills and consistent 200 yard hits with iron sights.

Rico's recommendation to go with the full ARMS rail and collapsible ARMS rear sight with a solid front sight is stout as h*ll and perfect for cowitnessing through an EOTech. The Northeast tactical sling, GG&G adaptor, GG&G bipod and Surefire M4 mounted on a LaRue quick disconnect light mount completes a full service urban platform.

Bruce Warner implemented Rico's AR design nearly three years ago and it's remained 100% dependable under constant use.

Wichaka,
The Gas Block is DPMS and the front & Rear flips are Mangowner. It will be much like Ricos Dissapater but with the flip front.

Here's a pic of my current set up. A 6920 with a CompML3 on a LaRue mount......just not overly happy with the light mount, as it's one of those clamp around the FSB styles. A bit clunky looking...........looking for something a bit more streamlined. Any ideas?

Change the light mount, by going with a railed gas block? Or keeping the FSB and trying a diff light mount? Not in any hurry to change out the hand guards, just looking for ideas.

Are most of you guys keeping the standard front sight base?

Oh yea, there's that Nightoptics nightvision scope too........
