A Barrett Tech Rep ran us through BORS familiarization at 500, 800 and 1,200 yards. BORS takes only seconds to adjust at new distances and its algorhythms include variables for real world long distance work to about 2,200 yards. Beyond 2,200 yards, too many other variables come into play to assure high accuracy.

The cost has come down since its introduction to the market and I endorse BORS.

Barrett and others have made great progress with muzzle brake (recoil compensator) efficiency so firing today's big bore systems is not as traumatic as it was back in the day.

Be safe and remain free...

I am favorably impressed with the speed and reliability of the BORS system and the price has dropped to under US$1,600.00 since R&D costs have been offset.

Check out the specifics at www.barrettrifles.com/optics_bors.aspx

I love my BA50 but I think alot of folks buy them without understanding the nature of the weapon. I purchased a Leatherwood M1200 Camputer scope when I purchased the gun. I wanted a "No frills, functional in the field" weapon with long range capabilities. I understood that to do this, the weapon wasnt going to be a shoulder strap infantry gun. Many folks seem to be suprised at how heavy the gun plus the mags and enough ammo to last 20 days along with your kevlar, your water, your MRE's etc all added up to a 5 man fire team and a blackhawk to set you down where you needed to be on the mountain. If you are buying simply for the thrill of shooting a large bore weapon, rent one first. If you are a competition marksman, there are many other manufacturers which offer a better MOA but you will pay for them. the Bushmaster BA50 is simply a workhorse of a gun that you can stake your life on. It can throw lead up to 5 miles away and with a good spotter and a good operator, you can certainly put the fear of god into people up to 3 miles away with consistancy. The flash supressor is such that anyone standing behind you on either side should be wearing a cup. The concussion of the supressor easily offsets the recoil but the blast is directed backwards to the right and left, saving the operator but not the unknowing bystander. These are just a few of many things anyone who wants to purchase this excellent gun should know before buying. I'm happy to answer any other questions anyone might have and take any advise that people with superior knowledge of this weapon can offer me.
