Suppose you started with a basic carbine let's say the Bushmaster ORC or similar model. Here's a picture:

I'd opt for sights lights and trigger. |

Three necessary AR-15 add ons:
1) Rail Mounted, Quick Disconnect, High Lumen Flashlight;
2) Red Dot Optic;
3) Rail Mounted GG&G Bipod. |

Yep.....
1) Some kind of red dot sight.....Aimpoint/Eotech
2) A light
3) A sling |

If you are starting with the one in the picture, the "Optics Ready Carbine":
Iron back up sights.
Sling.
Light
Then optics.
It will be very hard to fight without the three things above.
You can do without optics if you have to.
Then batteries, a spare parts kit and a cleaning kit along with some place on the weapon to store them. A stiff cleaning rod will eventually come in handy also. About every other American Defenders someone needs one. |
