My CQB shotgun is the Mossberg 500 12 gauge pump due to its top mounted safety and its 7 round tube capacity of 2-3/4" shells. 2-3/4" shells are preferred over 3" for faster target reacquisition and more rounds in the tube.
The Mossberg top mounted safety gets the shooter off safety faster and with practice the first round is away in about .30 seconds. The Mossberg is well made and I've had no malfunctions after firing more than 5,000 rounds through the weapon.
Carry ammunition is #4 buck and the original stock was swapped out for a shortened Hogue stock. A single point sling manufactured by Northeast Tactical is preferred and when both hands are needed the weapon can be secured to my duty belt using a heavy duty, belt mounted velcro strap (3" wide) manufactured by Blackhawk. The single point sling plus the velcro strap secures the weapon tightly but allows you to get back to weapon ready very quickly.
Hoffner makes a belt mounted TEKLOK shotgun shell loop assembly for 6 extra rounds at the ready.

| I agree, I am not a big fan of three inch shells. 2 3/4" get the job done just fine. I do prefer 00Buck...bigger pellets and more penetration. |

Hey Semper_Fi (or anyone else), quick question about the Hogue OverMolded Stock Set.
Did you have to purchase the Hogue Forend Adapter for your Mossberg 500? I'm looking at the shortened stock set at Cabala's here: http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/templates/links/link.jsp?cmView=full&type=pod&id=0020926, but it looks like it requires that forend adapter for the Mossberg.... |

Hey thanks, I thought the choice from Hogue was only between 14" and 12" in.
Off topic, when does the 2008 schedule go up? I missed the 2007 shotgun classes and am itching to learn something. |

Hoff,
Kudos to your time proven SoSu style. Your shotgun, rifle and pistol ergonomics are street smart and consistent across all weapon platforms which makes movements 'natural' when it's go time.
'Forever The Warrior' is the day-to-day mindset and 2008 will be the year of the Warrior Leader... |
