I shot the Courage Classic this past weekend in Bremerton, Washington, with Team Complete Strangers. If you're ever up in the Seattle area during the first weekend in August, it's the most fun you can have wit' your clothes on. Most of the 51 shooters were law enforcement (no military teams showed up this year).
The other half of our squad was Bremerton SWAT, and they shot very well. Their team captain hit the most bonus golf balls of the match in Taliban Alley with his FS2000, a nice little bullpup AR. They used department issue 00 buck for all the shotgun stages (some with round counts as high as 25 per stage), and it seemed to work much better on steel than the target load I was using (time to switch!). I expect that they'll take the LE trophy when scores get posted.
I wore my full Hoffner's vest; found some hotspots that rubbed and rearranged some things to work better. It was a good battle test for gear: 7 stages each day for about 10 hours of walking around and shooting, but probably not as grueling as the iron man 3-gun challenge in NV (no baby carriages allowed; all ammo, guns and gear for the day must be carried). I found myself wishing for a Hoffners rifle on the 200-yard line... which was rough with iron sights; I definitely need to find durable optics that I can afford.
The 360 mystery shoot house was frustrating, but a lot of fun. Samia and I will definitely be doing it together next year! |

Sounds like you did well and had fun at the same time..that's as good as it gets!
Also you mentioned the testing of your equipment under simulated scenario pressures. People who pooh pooh competitions and never even try them, miss out on these valuable and often subtle insights. |

Wish I could, but we probably won't be flying back to Houston until the house sells. It'll be a couple more years before we relocate back into the H-town vicinity. We definitely miss ImpactZone!! |
