Probably not new but was new to me when I heard it on O Reilly the other day. How is that for the opposite of combat mindset!?

So true,Liam, and Brian has used that term in his training as well.

94% of the general population are "sheep" and the other 6% are for the most part considered the Warrior class,i.e. police,military,and trained prepared citizens who have the skills and courage to engage the bad guys when possible before the sheeples are eaten.

These are the "Sheepdog" protectors of our society.

Not sure of the original source of that term, but the following article from Dave Grossman covers the concept quite well. His books "On Combat" and "On Killing" are both excellent reads.

Perfect example of when the wolf (robber) shows up expecting to feed on a defenseless sheeple(liquor store and convenience store employees have the top rated most dangerous civialian jobs in this country,taxi drivers are up there too.) and there happened to be a sheepdog (U.S. Customs agent) in the store who killed the wolf on seeing the wolf's predator actions (trying to rob the store).

The sheep was lucky this day.
Not a hero glory thing,just doing what sheepdogs do...

NOTE* Suppose the officer had for some reason decided not to have his weapon with him,how different the outcome might have been.
Weapon = sheepdog warrior
No weapon = sheep wolf food

Excellent posts and links Liam, Lodge and Mike.

Like most sheep dogs that frequent this forum, your writings and links bring up memories of growing up and protecting those in my periphery. I grew up 'inner city' Cleveland, Ohio in a closely knit Sicilian/German family and nobody, nobody punked my family or those around us. Sheep dogs and Warriors all!

A high % of our family have served in the military and LE and we carry those protective attitudes with us through life.

I'm grateful that Hoff has created and sustained a 'Sheep Dog/Warrior' and Patriotic training climate and forum whereby Sheep Dogs and Warriors can train and commune.
