Defensive Folding Knife Operator Basic Certification was conducted Saturday January 31, 2009.

Unlike other programs, Hoffners system of dfensive knife is simple, effective, and can be counted on to defend self in a very short period of time. Because it does not use fad knifes and fad techniques it is perceived as what it is...a logical way to use an effective tool to protect self and potentially avoid a deadly situation altogether.

Hoffners Training Academy not only trains with the most effective system available, we provide certification to back it up...and to back you up.

This was a good class attended by both the young and the seasoned (a bit old). The knife is so slim, lightweight, and easy to carry there is virtually no reason not to have it on your person, and very few situations that you are not permitted.

We covered safety and why it is important to keep the knife that you carry simple and plain. After carry options we worked on deployment. Two attendees struggled a little with the gravity flip but once it clicks it is like riding a bike and the training wheels are off for life.

Spine pick is a strong defensive hold and can be used exclusively to win the fight but we tarnsitioned to foil and conducted sweeps, jabs, and thrusts from both positions while defending front, sides, and rear.

We learned how the knife can be used in conjuction with the pistol and can actually protect the pistol and avoid a deadly force confrontation because of it.

Using the trainers provided and the skills learned we conducted soft contact drills on each others as attackers and defenders and learned how easy and effective the system actually is.

Great job class you are officially certified in basic defensive folding knife operations.

Hoffners System of Defensive Knife is effective for both young and...not so young.

Though defensive knife is an effective tool against child predators, it is up to the parent to decide if it is right for their child and to assure the responsible carry and use as well.

Rest, Relaxation, and practice

Now don't leave home without your defensive folder. If you have your pants on...you have your knife on.

Thank you, Hoff, for allowing our boys to be included in your defensive knife class. They all three learned skills that they can retain, and add to, over the course of their lives. As parents, we just can't be there to protect them all the time.

And no bad words all day, Hoff? Wow! They could hardly understand what your emphasis points were. I thought I might need to translate into the "Irish" they're used to hearing at home (although 10 push-ups for every F bomb is causing me to clean it up).

Since the class, they seem to have only stopped practicing their knife skills to eat and sleep.

It was a great class. The techniques are simple so that anyone can learn them, even children. Now I carry my knife with more confidence.
