They need to be reminded that a that a true risk assessment must include
both probability and consequence.
Hence if the probability is high and the conseqence is low. Such as a
scratch. Then let it be.
If the probability is low but the consequence is high such as a loved one
seriously injured or killed. We must take action.
Humans bet against the probability in Las Vegas all the time. Most of them
have lost their bets.
We the Hoffner Warrior Sheep Dogs only have to be right once(The Lord Willing). The
sheep have to be right every day of their lives. |

Good points UZI.
If the level of force used against you or about to be used is low than we must act accordingly with proper de-escalation, avoidance, or use of force.
As far as being right; decisions are much easier to make, and right from wrong is much clearer when you live the life of a Sheepdog Warrior.

At 6:15 a.m. today in a downtown Houston parking garage elevator, two mid-age professionally dressed women, one mid-age professionally dressed man and I were in a descending elevator that stopped at the seventh level when two young-to-mid-age anglo male street people got on the elevator.
The two street people began sizing all of us up immediately and I began sizing them up in return along with the three other professionals to determine if any one of them would likely help in a CQB situation. Talk about sheepish body language from these three professionals...made me sick and p*ssed me off.
After sizing everyone up, I assumed the 'pocket ready' SoSu position and the ready body language we practice every month at SoSu. The six of us remained still and quiet for the rest of the ride to the ground floor and everyone went their separate ways once the elevator door opened.
Were these two street people looking for victims? Who knows, but this scenario confirmed the benefits of SoSu training, always having the 4" Cold Steel Voyager foldable at the ready, and not being one of the sheep in the elevator who were staring at the ground like sheep to the slaughter.

I have witnessed this exact behavior.

I bet the professionals never noticed.

That piece of mind is something people should seek. |

I would have assumed pocket ready and then sized them up.
I know what you mean, tho. Just wanted to add that pocket ready can have such a natural look to it that you can be there almost any time. |

I can see it now: (point of view from the parking garage looking towards the elevator) 3 professionals, Bob, then 2 turds step into the elevator and face front; door closes; DING! door opens on another floor with Bob stepping over 2 carcasses to exit the elevator with 3 professionals cowering down facing the corners crying and yelling "not in the face!"
Good stuff Bob, I was almost starting to feel sorry for those 2 turds as your story went on; guess they made the smart decision, lol.
Talk about a good scenario for force-on-force training. How many of us have thought through winning a fight in an elevator? wow

LOL, I had similar thoughts.

That's a good one to work on.
How about a scenario inside a car, between two cars (like in a parking lot), in the bed of a pick up truck, cubicle, stairwell, movie theater seating, or bathroom stall? |

Any extreme close quarters battle for life is going to be violent, blood and flesh splattering messy, and painful, but you still gotta WANT to be there to win, wipe yourself off, and go home at the end of the day.
