The above link is a story about an accident that happened approximately 2 months ago in Syria. Syrian military personnel with the assistance of Iranian engineers were mounting chemicals weapons on a SCUB missle.
In the process a fire started in the missile's engine compartment and initiated a explosion spreading the chemical agents. Which included mustard gas, VX gas and sarin nerve gas that are all banned by international treaties. |

Nice article link,Nico.
I cannot help but think that it might have been an Israeli induced "heat wave" that lead to the explosion, lol.

Are there any artillery folks in the audience? I was always under the impression that you would not mount a chemical warhead unless you were getting ready to fire. |

Biological and Chemical warheads and delivery systems (missiles, rockets, bombs, shells, etc.) can be fully assembled, G&C (guidance and control) systems tested and be "made ready" long before they are mobilized from an ordnance facility to the field.
As far back as World War I, chemical and biological compositions were mixed, activated and loaded into artillery shells, land based rockets, aerial bombs, naval shells, etc. at parent ordnance facilities or laboratories then transported to combat zones.
These worms likely didn't complete their mobilization checklist at the facility and tried correcting the situation in the field prior to launch. On to paradise...
There's a lot of NBC (nuclear, biological, chemical) warfare information on the web. |
