I am a relatively new member and would like to thank everyone for any words of wisdom or experience they may have to offer.

My question concerns Kydex. During the summer, I carry my Glock 19 IWB. It is not the most comfortable, but the trade-off is the concealabiltiy. With cooler weather approaching, I can go to a jacket and move to OWB. I would like to giver Kydex a try. However, I have read several articles in which different trainers have poo pooed Kydex as a viable material because it will not stand up to Force on Force training.

Well, I'm 55. I don't think I could stand up to F on F training. Anyway, I would appreciate hearing from those that have used or are now using it.

Also, Hoff, I noticed several designs of yours that had an open bottom. These look very fast. Any cautions or concerns about the weapon being pushed out through the bottom?

Again, thanks for any feedback.

Hi Bob, welcome aboard.

FOF training can be a rigorous test of the student and equipment. It is always a great learning experience whether you are in the drill or watching. What you need to know is how things are gonna hold up when the balloon goes up.

I have used both. The leather holster seems to work better than the kydex in a gun grab. One important difference I have seen between leather and kydex is how they fail. I have seen a leather holster fail, the belt clip let go, or the velcro didn't hold. I have also seen the spring that holds the holster mouth open get bent making the gun difficult to get out.

The kydex I have seen fail does so dramatically. By that I mean, the clip breaks off, the J -hook breaks off, or somewhere something on the seam fails. I haven't seen any pushed through the bottom of the holster. I have seen the gun get popped out of the kydex holster. It was due to the cover garmet pulling up on the gun grip or the ground pushing up on the gun grip.

Check out Brian's stuff, I've used it alot over the last few years, as with all of the Kydex that I've seen, as long as you pay attention and adjust it properly, it really is among the best out there.
I've had a bunch of different from Blade Tec to Safariland, Bianchi, Uncle Mike's and Fobus. Brian's fit and service is excellent. Where else do you have access to the owner?
