I love my 1911s but, Dang, my trusty Glock 22 keeps me in the fights no matter what the conditions are. I easily have a million plus rounds through it and have replaced two slide stops, and two extractors. When they broke, they made me work harder with stoppage clearing but they were not catastrophic failures. When the going gets SCREWED UP I know I can count on my Glock.

hey boss, don't forget - I still have those 2-3 Glock 9/40 mag springs from the Glock representative at the ATOA, if you need to replace or upgrade your glock mags. They're just sitting in my range box and this post reminded me of them.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I download my Glock mags by one round, which the purpose is two-fold. First it allows me to reload on a closed slide quickly, and securely because the top round gives against the slide allowing the mag to seat and lock. The second purpose is that removing just one round takes a huge amount of tension off the spring extending spring life almost indefinately. I have had my magazines loaded -1 for years and they just keep on working.

I won't start a debate, but I feel the same way about my Sig. As long as I do my part and keep it loaded, it works. All the time. I don't have quite as many rounds through it as you do your Glock, but I have never had a parts breakage that took it out of action. Period.

I don't care what brand name your shooter is, as long as it works, hits where you point it, and have it when you need it.

Theres no debate really, the Sig is a quality gun and it's yours, you train to the point that it is an extension of your concious/subconcious mind and it is a part of you...the skilled, equipped, confident warrior.

We all love our 1911's and finely crafted pistols, but go to the sandbox and other heavily armed, cr*ppy areas of the world and you'll find more Glocks being carried than any other sidearm.

There are dozens of inexpensive pistols on the world market but the most reliable all-weather, all-terrain pistol is (in my opinion) the Glock.

One mandatory story...we were caught in a sand storm where fine sand particles found their way into every (equipment and body) crack and crevice possible. My G22 was completely permeated with sand so I put the G22 (emptied and safe) under a water buffalo spout, manually racked the slide, shook and tapped the weapon, reloaded and re-holstered. Emptied, rinsed and reloaded the mags.

Got back to base, went to the pistol range and fired three mags of ammuntion without any malfunctions. The sand and dust stripped the G22 of all oils and lubricants so the weapon was totally dry yet fired thirty (30) .40 caliber rounds with no problem.

The (Dale Hunnicutt modified) G22 has rock solid reliability...
