Diet is everything for training allot of people do not eat correctly. The proper diet is to eat allot of small meals. This strategy allows your body to ingest the most nutrients while speeding up your metabolism. Your body can only absorb so many nutrients per meal and so smaller meals optimize your nutrient intake. This is important when you are trying to lose fat and add muscle.
Speeding up your Metabolism is the key to leaning out body fat. If you skip breakfast and eat a late lunch then Dinner and ice cream before you go to bed you are going to gain allot of weight and possibly have a lower caloric consumption than eating 5-6 small meals a day.
Best case
(1)Breakfast 7:30 AM
(2) Protein shake, bar
(3) Lunch 12;00 PM
(4) Protein Shake, bar
(5) Dinner 6:00 PM
(6) Protein Whey shake 10:00 PM
This is basic information and body types, age, muscle mass, gender and overall condition will change the actual content and quantity of each meal. |

Can you give some more specifics on the meals? Some examples or calorie totals maybe?
Thanks. |

What kind of activity does that kind of eating require?
For results.

The meals I am referring to other than protein shakes are traditionally 300 calories and include grilled chicken breast, brown rice and a green vegetable.
The amount of chicken varies based on your actual protein requirements. If you are trying to build muscle in your training routine a good rule of thumb is 1.5 grams of protein per day per pound of body weight. One Chicken breast is about 45 grams of protein when I am training hard a Chicken breast and a half is usually good.
Brown Rice is with every meal and a lot of the times you have a cup of brown rice with your chicken and then do not consume any additional carbohydrates after 3PM in the day.
A cup of green vegetables is with every meal.
This is a very standard diet and when combined with the supplements and training you will transform your body.
A lot of guys that train in the gym that do not experience results are due to not ingesting the proper amount of nutrients to build muscle. The 6 meals a day routine will seem like a lot of food when you start but after two weeks your metabolism will be “firing” and you will get hungry every couple of hours.
This diet can be adapted several ways for weight loss or muscle gain. I just hear of so many people that think dieting is just not eating and that just causes your body to cannibalize on your existing muscle and once you eat again you will add fat on immediately.
The best plan is make all of your meals and bring them to work. Or there are a couple of companies that will make your meals with similar content that I am referring to. I am very busy and it is difficult to eat perfectly. I have eaten perfectly for extended time periods and experienced absolute results. This diet with exercise will make you feel great!

Activity I am referring to would differ depending on the individuals starting point. 3 - 4 days of training for one hour and the training depends on each individuals levels.
Either way if you go to the gym and work hard at cardio meaning you are sweating profusely for one hour 4 times a week. Or if you are training hard with free weights where you are experiencing positive biogenetic feedback (muscle groups worked feel "pumped” and are sore the following day) are activities to substantiate the diet. |

I'm Glad we are talking about this as it is extremely important especially as we age and our metabolism naturally slows. There are a couple of key points to keep in mind:
First remember that we eat for two reasons taste and nutrition. People run into problems when they start eating for emotional reasons, or associations such as eating when reading or watching TV. We must eat INTELLIGENTLY. Lets be smart about what we put into ours bodies, we must respect our bodies. It comes down to simple math If you put in more calories that you burn, then the fat is going to sneak up on you. Next is quality so keep the fat and sugars low. Be a label reader and know what you putting in yourself. Know your body as it transitions through life. Be smart, eat smart.

Robert and Hoff have it dialed in. As an older warrior, I am VERY conscious of what I eat. The term GIGO (garbage in, garbage out) does not only apply to computers!
One needs to know that proper nutrition is a large part of the warrior's successful quest for general flexibility and endurance. If you don't get hurt and you don't get tired, you will have the strength, and will win the fight if you train right and regularly.
Another issue is proper digestion and colon care. If you eat six meals a day and only P00P two or three times a week, you are not going to be at your best. Include a colon cleanser and fiber as part of your diet. You will be pleasantly surprised at increased energy levels, better sleep and a generally increased feeling of well being.
I am 61, still training self and others. Great training at the LETC, Brian!

Dear Brian
Guilty as charged.
The level of training you provided made everything easy and logical.
You have changed the way I think about the shotgun, and will now train folks in a way I never imagined before a day with you. Thanks, my friend. We WILL train together again!
