I was watching one of my timeless favorite movies the other night, "Quigley Down Under" and I could not help but think of Semper Fi and his tremendous sniper abilities and knowledgeable postings on this forum. I really appreciate his kind offer to help me get my long-distance skills up and running as soon as time and resources are available.

Semper, if you have never seen it(or it has been a while) go rent it and make a movie night with the wife and have some fun. I think it is one of the perfect combination chick flick and action movies... Tom Selleck/Laura San Giacomo romance for her, extreme shooting for you, lol.
Not spoiling the movie, suffice it to say that I think you will get a kick out of the ending...enjoy.

Quigley Down Under was the first DVD I ever bought. I love that movie.

One of my all time favorite movie lines:

“ Thanks for the lizards”.

Others:
Blues Brothers
“I think we are going to need some more SWAT guys”.

Mr. Mom
“.38, .39, whatever it takes.”

M.W.,
Let's get to ASC early December. I'll bring a tuned AR and a 4 - 12x AR scope and we'll work on 50 and 100 yard AR accuracy then transition to a scoped M1A for extensive 100 yard work. Let me know how your AR is configured and if you have a full top rail.

M1A's are great for learning breathing/trigger squeeze drills and a shooter must synchronize and master the breathing/trigger squeeze sequence to hold tight groups...it all comes with time, much practice and persistence.

The .308 round is excellent for training as you can fire 200 rounds per day and still have two fully functional arms and shoulders.

We must know our mind, body, weapon, ammunition and support equipment and get them in harmony.

Bottom line, I've integrated USMC techniques such as BRASS drills (Breathe Relax Aim Slack Squeeze) with Hoffner SoSu and Hoffner Training Academy techniques. These parameters plus proper practice, practice and more practice makes for effective fire.

We'll cover 'combat breathing' which can be practiced away from the range as well. Long distance shooting (past 300 yards) is all about 'frame of mind' and there's no need to go past 100 yards at the beginning.

Awesome Semper, I cannot wait to get out there and learn with you.

My AR is a flattop, set up with an EOTech halo-sight with flip up iron sight backups. Set for CQB distance not more than 50 yards usually in our matches. All well and good but I really feel that if I need to reach out and touch someone with it right now I would not have the skills to be effective with it. I have some 68gr,BT Match rounds and will pick up some of your recommended Black Hills ammo as well.

Early December is fine, I think American Defenders is on the 8th,other than that I will put off other stuff to get the longer-range workouts in.
Many,many thanks.
