We had a class full of enthusaiastic shooters, most with little rifle experience which is just how I like to get them. By the time class was over all had newfound skill, confidence, and ability using the Hoffner system of combing mind, body, and weapon with the right methods to build a fighting machine out of each and every student. We had, as usual, a high round count with little malfunction problems, none do to rifles. We had three ammunition induced malfunctions, one with a reload but the other 900 plus reloads were flawless. One chamber lock up with a PMC 55 gr. FMJ that required a rod drop to extract it. We also had a shooter that forgot one mag was loaded with old Wolf laquer coated steel case ammo that when used in a very hot weapon sealed the case to the chamber. We could not remove that one on the range without the proper tools. I am mentioning ammo because we all understand that it is in limited quabtities and becomming more expensive. About half the class was shooting the newer poly coated Wolf steel case ammo without a hitch.
At about half the price of brass ammunition it is cheaper to replace a worn extractor.
We spent hundreds of rounds building and storing in the reactive mind the proper mechanics of the "Fight Loop" with the rifle. The class was extremely focused and developed very nicely. I look forward to seeing you all in Tactical Rifle II where we will take what we learned in Tac Rifle I to the next level of dynamics.
See you there,
Hoff

I thank all of you for your warrior spirit, thanks Hoffner Instructors Art & Terry for another good job in assisting, and thanks Terry for the great pics

This class was awesome! I learned a lot and can't wait to learn more. Before attending, I only knew about the controlled press method of shooting (from years of hunting and hand-loading for accuracy). Brian opened up a new world to me with CQB and the hammer press. With the slow squeeze so engrained in me, I had to work really hard to get the hammer press going. But oh what fun that was! Brian had the right few words for me at the right time which helped a lot. My best time was 5 shots in the alpha zone in 1.25 seconds. I can't wait to get back out there and improve on what I learned.

Great learning experience!! I just started shooting in January 2008... after completing Brian's Intermediate Pistol class down in Victoria (terrific class, by the way..), I signed up for this course. Brian let me borrow his Hoffner's rifle since the Hoffner's I ordered hadn't arrived yet. I admit my only experience with a rifle before this class was shooting about 20 rounds through my husband's rifle the week before.

I was pretty nervous as the class started, but one of the great things about Brian's courses is the "yes, you can" attitude he and his instructors have. A special thanks goes out to Art for his incredible patience and encouragement! You will leave this class confident and believing more than ever in Hoffner's philosophy.

Now, back to working on the pushups while I'm waiting for my Hoffner's rifle (with a great trigger pull!) to arrive.......

Thanks Brian, Art, and Terry for another fantastic learning experience! I've taken four classes now and each time you guys amaze me. The core skills you've taught me have built a solid foundation. We all had to deal with numerous challenges over the weekend, but you kept us focused on completing the tasks. I am really looking forward to tactical II.

I finally had a chance to convert and upload the rest of the photos from the class. I have added about 150 additional photos to the WebShots site.
