If you are like me you love the WWII War Birds, but that P-51 with its speed, power, grace, and beauty...it was truly special. More important were the men that flew them and other fighters, bombers, and transports. A few of the planes will survive but soon all the men that flew them will be gone.

Thta's a great tribute to the men and the plane.

My grandfather flew Hellcats off of carriers in WWII in the pacific. He flew Guadal Canal and Okinawa conflicts, credited with 3 kills.

He had some great stories, bud sadly as Hoff has mentioned, some of the machines will last for us, but the men who flew them won't. He died about a 1 1/2 ago.

Hoff,I have two friends that fly the old birds here in Texas in the air shows.One flies one of the fighters in Dog Fight re-enactments,the other flies one of the big Gunships.I have been offered rides on several occassions.If you are interested maybe I can arrange something and we can both go togeather.Sound like a plan?
