As for the above 3.......the top Commander is one I built for a fellow Deputy here, the middle one is mine, and the bottom I built for forum member jazor. |
Nice work!
I attended the second two day class in Klickitat.
I'm trying to scrap a 1911 project together myself, but I haven't the skill to assemble it myself.
I admire your work. |

When you get things together, lemme know, you can come down and I'll walk you thru the building process.........no charge. I mostly do work for LE folks, as I are one.........and I know how little we get paid!
I may also be able to help with the parts cost as well for you, as I always have plenty stocked here. |

I've got my hopes up!
I also have a Wilson catalog, which if I read too much is going to make me sell a kidney for a Tactical Elite. |

Well, I got my start...
Kimber TLE II will be the platform. So far not much I don't like about it, but here are my prospective changes:
1. Dumping these Kimber mags and replacing with Wilson-Rogers or equivalent.
2. Replacing the MIM slide stop.
3. Replacing the mainspring housing, perhaps with a chute of some sort.
4. Off to Wilson for their reliability package and possibly have them take care of 2 and 3.
I may do 2 and 3 myself from Brownells and save some cash for boolets. |

Yup!
I sent email to your work address, lost track of the schedule.
Guy traded straight across. I think I made $600 worth of gun profit. |

| I have a few, but my favorites are my Kimber Ultra CDP (constant CCW companion and gift from my wife), my Sig first generation stainless GSR, and a custom Springfield that was built for me about 20 years ago. |

| i have two 5" steel frame 1911's... the first one i bought is a new stock colt with novak white dots, a replacement slide safety 'cause the factory safety broke... cheap ass piece... replaced it with a good steel safety... match trigger and hammer, standard grip safety. colt diamond grips. my second is similar to the first but the slide was made in 1912 and is mated to a new steel frame by lone star out of stephenville. it has a titanium firing pin and extractor. custom grip safety and hammer, real african ivories and it is original like it was intended... it shoots better than the newer one... i do like the sights on the newer one but whatever... oh yeah, i have a couple mccormick tactical magazinez which i find work best, and a few wilson combat also... normally i shoot 230 fmj's... love the 1911... |

Hmmmm....let's see.....Colt, Colt, and (surprise) Colt! Getting harder to find. The "pretty" high dollar versions by other manufacturers are full of plastic and MIM internal parts. Good for about 5,000 - 10,000 rounds and then you have to start replacing stuff....
If I had to get a new 1911 today, I would purchase a Caspian Recon Rail frame and matching slide, ship it to my gunsmith, and tell him to finish it with all Ed Brown internals....
Just my $0.02... the finished product would run about the same as the American Handgunner centerfolds, but it would outlast me...
