Give me my 12 gauge and my loops full of OO Buck and bring on a load of killing scumbags and I will blast the living crap out of them in short order. When you know what the heck youre doing because you practice at the rate of thousands and thousands of rounds, the shotgun IS the ultimate CQB weapon...period!

I know it probably looks on this forum as though I am following right behind the boss and kissing ass to no end, but I don't care what others' perceptions are. I simply call it as it is, pull no punches and sugarcoat nothing. Brian taught me how to properly employ a combat shotgun in such an efficient and tactical way in a defensive situation to turn it into an offensive situation as to make the offenders' physiology and psychology take a 180.
In that I mean that I feel so profoundly proficient with the shotgun that I will *NOW* choose it over a more aggressive weapon with 7 times the firepower (i.e. an AR with two 28-rd mags [Redi-Mag configuration]) in certain urban environments. For example, we had a rash of Burglary of Motor Vehicles in the parking lot - understand that next door is a gun range where the majority of the vehicle owners were in a TX CHL course and guns were stolen from some of the vehicles. The gun range finally got their (&#@$ together and installed security cams pointed at the parking lot. Well, the next time they hit our parking lot (the 3rd time), while the operators that worked next door had their ARs, Yours Truly had his shotgun standing by because he knew that if they lit us up and initiated contact, I could empty my tube of 00 buck and be combat loading slugs into the passenger/driver/backseat shooter by the time they hit the street and tried to break out. If you saw our parking lot and the video footage of the last BMV attempt, you would gather that this would transpire in only a few seconds (under 5).
Thank you, Brian... and Hoo-friggin-Yah! |

| I recently retired & sold my Bail Bonds Company. I have served over 200 high risk felony warrants all over the US. My Colt Commander & my Remington 870P were always by my side. And have never once felt underarmed. |

A formidable combination in the hands of a worthy warrior…I, also, would not feel underarmed in CQ Battle.

| I can't agree more. I carry both my 870 and AR on duty and I grab the shotgun alot. I have never felt outgunned by the bad guys with it. Even those that are supposed to be armed with rifles. I think that the importance and usefulness of the shotgun as a CQB weapon has been eclipsed by the recent trend in AR popularity. However mine is not going anywhere anytime soon! |
