This book comes out in March and it is definitely worth the time to read. I was able to get an advance copy.
Donovan Campbell displays tremendous talent, both as an author and a leader.
Although it starts slow, he pulls you into the daily life of Joker One during their deploment to Ramadi and by the end you will feel like you personally know each of the platoon members. He doesn't explain how bonds are created between men in war, he allows you to share in the experience.
Unlike many "war" books, Donovan does not focus on himself. This story is about Joker One (the platoon) and ALL of its members. No politics, just a compelling story and a fantastic book. |
