Drum came from here: http://www.mdarms.com/Scripts/default.asp
I had my S12 out at IZ this past weekend and let Phil empty a drum of 00 buck in to some steel. His big grin was confirmed by his positive comments. He asked if it is easy to load, and discovered it is, once you learn how to rotate the first round behind the follower.
My sons and I ran about 200 rounds of Remington 00 and 50 LE only slugs through it without any trouble. We used both the drum and the 12 round SureFire mags. |

Nice work. After my conversion, the BHO lever would press in on the right side trigger spring causing it to hang, thus the trigger would not reset. Dry fire may not reveal this. However, it is an easy fix, just bending the ear out on the right side spring.
Hoff is working on some SureFire 12 rnd mag carriers for me. From what I can tell, the AGP and the russian mags are no bueno.
You should really consider this foreend option: http://www.saiga-12.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SSGMTF12 as other aluminim rails are all very heavy. It is very easy to mount.
I am also adding this safety lever to allow me to keep a full grip in sul position with tactical index on the safety: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-271/Krebs-Saiga-Ak47-Safety/Detail?sfs=a937edb4
I want to find someone local who can weld on the H&K ghost ring sites with the tritium. Any ideas?
Let's get together at IZ soon and veel keel some steel, comrade. |

Sounds like fun. I need to take this thing out for some exercise!
On the sights, I've heard good things about the Krebs Sights as well. Doesn't require welding... Ghost ring and post.
KREBS CUSTOM SAIGA-12 COMBAT SHOTGUN SIGHTS
CATALOG NUMBER 17
Rear is a dovetail type mount like the original, front is clamp on.

May have to go that route myself. I'll see if I can find someone on the welding though too. |

| I have a barrel mounted front sight and did not like it on the scatter gun, so I took it off. I also took off the PolyChoke. I am finding that lighter and shorter is best, thus the weld-on H&K sights. |

The Krebs safety lever is installed. I had to grind it down just a little. I think it must come long because it is easier to grind away steel than add it? I installed it over the trigger before grinding, then spun the safety around backwards (lever in down orientation outside the action) so I could take a little off with the Dremel tool, flip it back up, and trial for fit. After two or three trys, followed by a quick polishing, it fits and works perfectly now.

Definitly a must have mod due to tactical index, unless you have a 9 inch long index finger. Don't know why all AKs don't come this way, now. The original design makes no sense to me. |

5 round mag of stainless steel AP coupled w/ 12 round mag of 00 buck shot. After manipulating both alternatives, it makes the most sense to me to hang the AP slugs on the right side of the 00 buck, at least for these two reasons:
1. Matches prominance of right side charging handle.
2. Makes for a better grip when swapping mags with left hand while using one's left thumb to release magazine.

| Glad you are getting a drum, those magazines run empty so darn fast when the fun is on. |

| At Hoffners we are finalizing a mag carrier for the Sega Magazine. I have been wearing it comfortably on the belt so that it rides under my support arm and of course it latches on to the Spec-Rail System. |

Details:
Hoff is working on a mag carrier for SureFire box mags from 5 rounds up to the 12 round, 2 rnd may fit, but not part of the specification.
You need an American made magazine to be in complinace with the Feds. SureFire is the best. |
