Brian, I was at the LE 3-Gun school up in the Northeast in 2005 where one of the guys demonstrated the Federal Tac Buck with 'Flitecontrol'.
I was impressed at the tight grouping of pellets even out to 35-40 yards. I just transitioned all of our guys over to it this week and this round never ceases to amaze me with it's accuracy.
8" spread at 30 yards out of a police Mossberg 590 A-1 with 18" bbl. That is the way to fly!!!
Do you guys use this load? Just curious what others are using in their shottys? |

There is no doubt that the flight control of the Federal Tactical Buckshot is incredibly tight. As you know the buckshot is in a cup which is responsible for holding it together until it either impacts something or flies long enough that it starts to come out. If you want super tight groups there in no other buckshot that I know of that is even close.
What I have found is that there are some shooters and some situations that the group is too tight, such as dynamic movement of both shooter and target and the shooter is missing. There are many factors involved such as level of skill, cool under fire, that can cause a person to miss but if their group opened up a bit then their ability to hit improves also. So I am still assessing its use. You guys have a high level of skill, I remember, and that in itself will make the round work for your unit.
I can’t believe it’s been that long since I was up there. Sure would like to get back. You’ve got beautiful country up there in Maine and a bunch of good guys.

We'd love to have you back for some more training ASAP if possible. I'll have to go to your webpage and see the requisites for hosting a class.
Since I work in Southern Maine, there are many departments who could benefit from this training in the area. I am interested in hosting a class.
We just had a shoot in this area involving an officer utilizing a shotgun. I'll send you an email with the details, but it was quite an interesting scenario. (Officer 1; bad guy 0) |

An officer win always warms my heart especially when it with a shotgun. Was the officer one of my students? I love it up there in Maine and I am ready for a return trip so lets put a class together.
