Safety 1st and foremost - always, on the range here men and women. So make sure you have separated your slugs from your shot ammo, in clearly marked containers for yourself. You're going to build to a point where you're safely running that shotgun fast and furious and will be expending a lot of physical and mental energy. I've already had a slug come back off of a steel plate during a 5-round hammer drill and break my finger, while standing between 2 students. The potential for a much worse injury was there, had that round hit in any number of places on the body. All it took was *1* slug mixed up in a shooter's shot ammo, that he missed when separating them.

For those of you new to Hoffners training program, let me suggest not wearing jeans, but instead wearing some cargo pants or military BDU pants. These will come in very handy during this shotgun class when you are pouring a box of ammo into that support side cargo pocket to go back out on the line. It sure beats watching students raise their hands to let the instructor know they are out of ammo, "may I go run and get some?", then having to ground the shotgun, etc.
As I pointed out to WEZ in the other thread, I also highly suggest having *some* sort of sling on your shotgun, no matter HOW you rig it up... 550 cord, zip ties and tape - whatever. You will be glad to have it when the day wears on.
Other than that, lots of water, probably a hat of some sort and like Hoff and Semper_Fi said, lots of ammo and a kick-butt attitude!

This is exactly why I send in my Hoffner registration form as soon as you post a new announcement for one of your classes. You start with the initial objective of the training (i.e. shotgun, pistol, etc.) which is an exceptional experience by itself, and then use that as a means to instill in your students the MOST IMPORTANT things of all necessary to be true warriors in lilfe.

Looking forward to kick a** learning experience.

Is your weapon rigged with a sling for this weekend?

The UPS lady just delivered a spankin' new Giles Tactical Sling today. In several sling-related messages on this forum I noticed that a lot of people prefer a single point sling. I am not sure about the pros and cons of a single point over a three point. The one I ordered (a three point) seems to be suitably robust and functional. The deciding factor at this point in time, though, was that it did not require an additional adapter piece to work right of the box on my weapon. Sometimes it turns out to be a little conservative but I tend to apply the KISS rule frequently.

Bring your Giles sling, We will be testing our equipment with rigor and it will teach us much. The Giles sling might be just "the ticket" for you.
