Though I love shooting the revolver I don't carry one anymore as my duty weapon, but I do dig the J-Frames for off duty/concealed carry. They lay flat against the body and conceal nicely. For that matter I can conceal an N-Frame Hog-leg extremely well in the ITP Ultrux Miurage holster because the cylinder rides above the belt.

I think I pretty much dig all guns.

You are so right Brian on the J-frame for light carry situations...

I often toss my S&W 342 .38 in a pocket holster in my shorts and head to the grocery store or quick errands around the neighborhood. Day or night just add a speedloader and I am good to go. Even early morning taking out the trash and/or getting the newspaper it goes in the robe pocket.

Why? because "stuff" happens when we least expect it,that is what the BG's (bad guys) are counting on.

If you choose to leave the house without your eqipment you have decided to leave the house as the sheep, not the sheepdog.

I'm right there with you Hoff. I think I like all guns too.

I agree with the idea of the j-frame as being a great back up/off duty gun, and carry mine every day that I work, and often when I am dressed in only shorts and a tank top.

I have a Model 337 with the Scadnium (sp?) frame that I carry in a lace on ankle holster as my back up on duty. I have carried this gun for about 5 years now, after replacing a heavier Model 640 with it. I have never had it fail. It always works, even when I forget to knock the "dust bunnies" and dust off of it. I have often thought of retiring the old girl, but seriously doubt I can replace the reliability that she brings to the fight.

I've got a buddy that just got the S&W 625 .45 acp. Take a look at Jerry Mikulec on You Tube, it inspires you to work on shooting a revolver and working at it. There's only one Jerry, but the skill and knowledge is intriguing. One warrior, all weapons Exclamation

I use Jerry's Video during the Reactive Brain portion of my Mindset Lecture to display how you can develop reactive skill with thousands of pepetitions...reactive skill through redundant repitition.
Thanks Big Scott,

just got ahold of a .357 k frame... have not toyed with it yet... i understand from a smithy of mine that if you feed a steady diet of .357 through it the pistol will not last... practice with .38 and carry .357... tough on the frame as i understand it...

I don't bother with .357 even for carry, instead I load with 38+P. +P stands for +Powder in the same .38 case vs the longer magnum case. More power, less recoil and muzzle flash, pretty darn good combination.
Now put some rounds through that revolver and enjoy.
