Guys and Gals, I wont claim that we are the best holster makers in the world, but were damn good and trying hard to get even better. We are the little shop of warriors building gear FOR warriors. We test our gear in the trenches, tear it up, and build it better. I've been operating with firearms for over thirty years and building holsters for over twenty years. Cecil, my manager, is one hell of an operator and uses that knowledge to engineer high speed gear. At Hoffners we handmake products in the USA for defenders of freedom and we are damn proud of it. Hey Hoff: OK, you make holsters & I need a shoulder rig. I just bought a touring cruiser and I want to carry my Para C745, but my IWB holster is not comfortable on a long ride. What would you recommend and/or build for a comfortable shoulder rig that can be worn long periods of time without wearing a hole in my shoulder, and also be very secure under my riding jacket. Both my brother-in law's are cops and neither has much nice to say about shoulder rigs for all day carry. I could use some professional advice here....

Im not much of a fan of them either. You can't reholster one handed. When its in the holster gravity is always trying to remove it from the holster, would hate for that to happen when your riding. I use to wear one eons ago and was running in a parking lot because it was raining. The next thing I knew my gun flew from the holster and rata-tat-tat went under a Plymouth Grand Fury, I remember the car because Murphy stopped my gun right at the middle and I had to belly down in the driving rain and crawl under that tunaboat to retreive my pistol...havent worn a shoulder rig since.
Remeber when trying a new holster, particularly an ITP/IWB you have to give your nerve endings a minimum of two weeks to get used to the new bulk.

I have been wearing an IWB and/or Thunderwear (depending on how I am dressed) for over 6 years. (Or however long CCL has been available in Texas - time does fly by... ) Thunderwear is totally out of the question in a riding environment. The IWB is not real comfortable over a long period of time and also runs the risk of exposure between the riding position and the wind combined with arm position pulling up the jacket. This really leaves me with no other choice other than a shoulder rig. I guess I will have to settle with a Jackass rig as they seem to be the 'most' acceptable in the opinions of those very few that I have talked to that have actually utilized a shoulder rig.

I used to build shoulder rigs but they cost so much to make I couldnt compete. We still have the Nylon shoulder rig but it is more low end. If you get a shoulder rig and feel like you need more security/retention maybe we can add some so you can rest easy as you ride.

I was reading thru the older posts and thought this might help out.

Brian makes GREAT holsters folks and I have several of them.
I also have several holsters from Ken Null,old school,old school is the new school? but they are quite nice and he has some specialized rigs, LStanley, that you might be able to use.

I used to wear a monkey suit,lol, a business suit and tie all day as an insurance broker for 20 years and could not carry openly in the offfice. Enter the Ken Null under the shirt shoulder holster for my j-frame...he builds quality rigs with "pull-thru" rather than thumb-break snaps. Much faster access and very secure on the weapon itself. However,I digress.

Another,and more importantly for you in a long hours riding set up is the Vampire or Vam model crossdraw rig(under an untucked shirt or T-shirt).
I am not a big fan of crossdraw for routine carry BUT this design was made originally for the R.C.M.P.,Secret Service, and stake out cops. It is very comfortable for a seated position and may fit your needs.
